Ramey Dixon - Artist Statement My artwork is created based on a process that first starts with the feelings, emotions and my life experiences how I am able to channel them. With the application of acrylic paint in the category of Abstract Art. I am able to begin layering, blending and accenting the canvas to create contrast, depth and the doorway for the viewer to enter my world. By layering I generate distinction and dimension to arouse the imagination by applying paint in strategic locations. In the blending process I use water or a wet on wet technique to establish movement, flow and vibrancy. Lastly, accenting through numerous different applications allows structure and desired affects. I paint because it is the one outlet that I have discovered that allows me to be completely free, content and gives me purpose. The last 3 years have been the best with art transforming my life. Art is one gift in my life that has transformed my journey and allows me to experience the beauty of the world.
